It's wild that these days some of the best Nintendo games/remakes these days are technically third party developed.
Velan with Star Fox. Grezzo with Zelda. MercurySteam with Metroid Dread.
These being developed out of house would have been unheard of back in the day.
The Star Fox demo being Meteo is honestly the best for me, it's the level I play the least of all 😏
I have friends that despise FF7 Remake, not because it's "different", but because they argue its message is muddied by the presentation of that story in that specific game. That's a fair opinion!
I'm not saying anyone has to like remakes, but try to think of "why" other than "it's weird to me"
Peppy when I overcook his steak and he doesn't want it any more
Tapping the sign again now that we have Star Fox and OOT remakes.
Don't focus on the "they changed it, it's worse because it's different, it's not what I want".
Focus on what message and presentation the new version is trying/able to tell, and if it succeeds at that.
LRT I'm already seeing people be disappointed the new dialogue isn't as memable and is more subdued.
64's performances were lightning in a bottle, it is weird at first to not have the same energy, but it definitely has the same if not more personality.
It's just giving top gun instead of tokusatsu
Like I said with 643D, I don't think any performance will be "close enough" for people wanting it to be the same. I'd rather have something that shows off the writing, and is more of a natural style to continue for any future games.
Like I could see an assault remake with the same VAs easily!

I haven't played the Star Fox demo yet, but I like that they're going for a fully retranslated, rewritten take.
When you try to do it 1:1 like 64 3D, people only focus on how it isn't EXACTLY the same, no matter how close.
This time it's like they focused on making the dialogue feel natural
I have played the demo many, many times now. As someone who's played this game for almost 30 years, it feels goooood.
I was worried the Arwing would feel drastically different, but it feels snappy and smooth. It still feels like SF 64, but in a tuned up sports car instead of your mom's Honda Civic.
