I liked what you said about not existing in the Compromise / Glorantha proper. My perspective is very much that the Outer World is only loosely bound to the Compromise, at the edges of the frayed net, which is why you get weirdness here, literally relics of a less coherently composed Glorantha.
If Muslims or members of the Asian and Black community had set fire to white people’s homes with children running for their lives, do you think we would be discussing legitimate concerns or focussing on who radicalised them and ideological and contributing cultural factors?
Aren't they just hollri who have grown larger and smarter over time battling the foes of Himile and Valind in the Outer World? The one in The Grove of Green Rock gives that impression.
Not just weapon reach but also arm reach. A taller boxer hits the smaller boxer first, for the same level of "dexterity", and the game considers that as well.
Indeed, I think that version was Jamie Revell drawing a bit too directly on the Norse version. That type appears again in the JC books The Rostakori Clan and Anaxial's Manifest. I think you could get weird Vadrudi giants living on the northern fringe, but giant hollri might make more sense to me.
Where are the hrimthur in the original Himile writeup? I can't see any mention of them there, just the hollri.
I like this, especially in the context of incursions into the Middle World.
That's your Random Folk list for all future roleplaying sessions with inbuilt characterisation and, potentially, objectives.

I found it fascinating, for sure. I also think there is sometimes a slightly snooty view amongst the cultural studies folk regarding histories that are all facts and no agenda. But where the facts are largely hidden away in private archives, this kind of history is invaluable.
This would be something I'd very much like to see. And you can always put caveats in, or placeholders ...
