It appears that Russia is not going to try its luck at supplying Cuba with much-needed fuel amid the US-led fuel blockade of the island nation. After drifting for five weeks in the Sargasso Sea, the US-sanctioned, Russian-flagged Handymax tanker UNIVERSAL (9384306) has now deviated 1200nm SE.
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has just slapped sanctions on 19 Iran-linked tankers.

There's close to 60 million barrels of Iranian crude oil trapped by the US Navy blockade. That's nearly $6B in oil revenue that currently isn't reaching Tehran. There are still many vacant tankers available to take on more oil, but as oil production has declined, tanker loadings have fallen as well.

That said, we saw multiple non‑sanctioned, Iran‑linked tankers enter the blockade perimeter because US OFAC still has not sanctioned them. There are currently 49 such tankers within the perimeter.
