Behind every publication is a problem worth solving, surprising findings, years of work, and people who made it possible.
There's far more story there than a link and a citation.
A thoughtful yes often starts with a few thoughtful questions.
What questions do you ask before agreeing to give a talk?

An invitation to talk often arrives before the details.
Before agreeing to speak, here are three questions worth asking. ๐งต
1. Who is the audience?
What do they already know, what are they curious about, and what do they hope to take away? The answer shapes everything about your talk.
3. Is this the right use of my time and expertise?
Consider the audience, the preparation involved, and whether you're the right person to deliver the message.
It's also worth asking whether the opportunity compensates you fairly for what's being asked.
Compensation isn't always financial.
A talk can be worth your time if it builds your reputation, connects you with the right people, develops your science communication skills, or extends your reach beyond the room. What matters is that the value flows in both directions.

If you've ever posted "Happy to share our paper was published" and wondered what to say next โ you're not alone. ๐งต
2. What are the logistics? Length, format, whether there's a Q&A, and whether the talk will be recorded and shared.
A 20-minute slot and a 60-minute keynote are completely different asks, and a talk that lives beyond the room is worth significantly more of your time.
We've included our favorite prompts and examples to get you started.
