Not to say all of that is Ren'Py's fault per se, but knowing that the world is becoming increasingly more hostile to creatives in so many ways is very exhausting.
In so many words, "nothing is sacred", I guess.

This Ren'Py news really fucking sucks.
We've had several forays into Ren'Py alternatives over the years, but we've found ourselves always weighing our relationship with the developers and community higher over engines that may serve our own interests better.
Personal update: My fiancee and I've been diagnosed with ME/CFS, and we have to move back to the south, out of Oregon.
This is a big reason why I've been unable to be super active as a developer, unfortunately.
