the way it just removes that veneer of respect and somehow becomes deeply intuitively abhorrent in ways its sources arent intuitively, i like that. a modern remake would sample true crime youtubers
i got cancelled for liking it as an edgy teen so i listened to it again and realized it's actually pretty good beyond being edgy and unlistenable. i don't think u could make it today, it benefits from you knowing everything you hear had to have been broadcasted first cus it's the early 90s
the way the album is presented makes it feel different, like maybe it's immoral to present these stories out of context for entertainment, but what is so different about sotos' use of the subjects and the sources he pulls from? is it merely lacking the performance of gravity? it's interesting.
it goes from numbing to shocking and then sad and then darkly humorous, it's def a thoughtful collage. you just have to actually listen to it and most ppl dont

tbh describing buyer's market as just "a compilation of rape victim interviews" is itself kind of reductive. there's a structure to it, the tracks all focus on different subjects
