Great piece: air conditioning is going to be increasingly essential, and it shouldn't just be a luxury for the rich. Excess heat kills people; we need to be able to cool as well as heat our homes.

This is one of the things I really dislike about Burnham: maybe I'm just old but I think being *consistent* in your views is quite important. Chucking one set of views away in favour of more politically expedient views reeks of "I don't actually care, I'll just say what people want".
