Hellgate Ospreys. Things can get a bit rowdy in the nest when both parents and a fish are in the mix. Osprey chicks are made for that: (1) Their developing bones are protected by a high ratio of collagen to calcium, which allow the bones to bend and absorb impact when chicks are jostled.

The Clark River has calmed down, and Clark (Osprey) is keeping the nest in fish. A big yawn from the chick precedes another food coma. It can take a while for a chick to hold up its long Osprey neck, but this little one already has it under control.
