The History Council of South Australia invites submissions for the 2026 Wakefield Press Essay Prize, recognising outstanding original research and writing on South Australian history.

The HCSA is proud to announce Dr Samuel Cox as winner of the 2026 Wakefield Press Essay Prize, for the essay "Phoenix Journal: The 'pilot-ship' of Australian Modernism". The judges called it " a stunning work of cultural history that brings 1930s Adelaide alive as a literary and artistic centre."
