A remarkable work by a remarkable young artist 🎨 In our latest video, Jenny tells the fascinating story behind Saint Anthony and the Pigs by Joan Manning-Sanders. youtu.be/Z6FIGzdEO_M
On this day in 1852, Walter Langley was born in Birmingham. Generally dubbed the ‘pioneer of the Newlyn School’, as he was the first of the ‘Newlyn School’ artists to settle in the village, setting up his studio in 1882.
Throwback Thursday 📸 An unidentified young lady in a summer dress stands outside the Cornishman office on Parade Street, Penzance. She may have worked for the Cornishman at the time. If anyone recognises her, or has any information about this image, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Carrying on the museum acts of kindness 💙 Shoutout to our friends at @barns-grahamtrust.org.uk — celebrating one of Britain’s most significant 20th-century abstract artists. P.S. follow them if you love cats 🐱
We hit 1K followers thanks to a lovely shout-out from @barnsleymuseums.bsky.social 💙 Museums stick together, and we’re so grateful!
What a lovely surprise! After sharing a photo on our socials on Sunday, we were delighted to welcome Mike on Monday – the young boy in the picture. The photo shows Mike and his sister Alison, and he even brought along the family’s own copy. A wonderful moment connecting past and present.
🥛 It's World Milk Day! Pictured here is Zoe Newton demonstrating her craft as she milks Bertha the cow at the Cornish Young Farmers’ event on 12 August 1955. Newton was one of London’s most sought-after photographic models. She became familiar to millions through national milk advertising campaigns
