People diagnosed without a blood test are not reported so we have no idea how many there are. If they had the typical rash, they don't need a blood test, so they should have had early treatment and (if treatment was correct) one hopes a quick recovery.
If you know you get #ticks attaching to you and you need some protection, why not try a repellent. Plant based, effective and easy to use. www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/what-we-are-...
2 trustees back from #NordTick2026, now have to write up a summary. Many interesting talks & posters. Always good to meet researchers, clinicians & patient orgs we only see at international conferences. Notable how #TBE & #Neoehrlichia are growing topics yet to be major problem in UK.
However, the group classified by UKHSA as "Lyme longstanding" has been rising. Some will not be current infection but the vast majority were late diagnosed and therefore have had a more difficult recovery. They may still be suffering. Thankyou @adamjamesdance.bsky.social for questioning Dept of Health re cases of #Lymedisease in #Somerset. NB their answer (cases not up over the last 7 years) is misleading as that only applies to what is classified as lab confirmed acute cases. www.theyworkforyou.com/wrans/?id=20...
New figures on #Lyme disease cases highlights the rise in "longstanding" Lyme. @UKHSA says may be previous disease, not active. But these people had test because of illness. Want #PIFTick accredited info on this? www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/about-lyme/c... @theguardian.com
Treating patients as partners, to contribute a new important perspective, is much more effective than simply using patients to tick a box. But how to make the change?!
