He moved toward her again, making her breath catch as her blue eyes met his grey ones. He reached up to cup her cheek, “You are the kind of woman who makes men walk willingly into the flames.”

“I’ve never been one to court the flames, Birdie.”
“Dude. What the frack are you on about?”

Around the corner, the arguing couple’s yelling grew louder.
He frowned, “I need to go, you were an unexpected distraction.”
“You came up to me, pal.”
“Yes, a moth to a flame.”
The brilliance dimmed just enough for Kassandra to see her. Eyes that held entire galaxies within them. Veins of molten gold churned beneath dark skin, gleaming like rivers of liquid sunlight. She was beautiful in a way that transcended mortal understanding—ancient, eternal, and impossibly vast.

His brow cocked, “I believe I did quite a bit of ‘messing’ with them.”
“You know what I mean. It’s freaky.”
He smirked, but at least refrained from making a comment related to ‘getting freaky’, which she’d expected.

A door slammed around the corner, a couple exited, their voices raised a heated argument.
Ryland & Elsie froze. And then he was 3 steps away & her clothes were in their correct position. She did not like knowing he was moving at warp speed while she was essentially frozen in time -it was unnerving!
Nothing could prepare me for being carried away, with gentleness and need intertwined so deeply, they felt like a cocktail made to make me explode.
To say he worshipped me was an understatement.
