With allegations of misconduct and a “credibility crisis” swirling around Chicago U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros’ office, a judge on Wednesday said she’d be holding a hearing — and she gave Boutros’ team one way out. From @chicago.suntimes.com: chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/0...
AUSA Sheri Mecklenburg was the lead prosecutor in the Loretto and Broadview Six prosecutions, and claims of misconduct by Mecklenburg have surfaced in both. Today, Coleman told the lawyers, "the court needs to have an evidentiary hearing."
Coleman: "I'm a lifelong prosecutor. Federal and state level. I know this circle. I know this sphere. And so the court wants to do right by this."
Coleman told the lawyers to be thinking about potential witnesses. She also told the feds there's one way to avoid all this — "I think you know what that is." Likely, dismissing the case.
