More than 16% of Wales has sites covered by volunteer surveyors for our Welsh Raptor Monitoring Project Cudyll Cymru! Thank you! But we still need more support to achieve our goal of producing regional trends for all 5 survey species – can you help? Sign up at www.bto.org/cudyll-cymru #BirdingWales

Volunteers are at the heart of BTO. 🐦 We couldn't achieve what we do for birds, science & people without you. Thank you! Here's a snapshot of what some of our survey volunteers have achieved 🙌 From Regional Reps to BTO Youth, there's a variety of volunteer roles at BTO➡️ www.bto.org/volunteer
How much of nature do we miss when we’re not there? 👀 A recent visitor to our Sand Martin bank appeared to mistake one of our plastic decoys for the real thing. Without our @ZEISSbirding trail cam, we’d never have seen it. 🌿 #Kestrel #nature
Been to see the Western Reef Heron in Wales? BirdTrack has now been updated so this species will appear on your British year and life lists #ukbirding

Green Sandpiper seen by @sconebirding.bsky.social at BTO HQ in Thetford this morning - the start of autumn migration! Mid-June is a typical date for first returners from Fennoscandian breeding grounds, before autumn migration peaks in August #ukbirding Photo: Allan Drewitt / BTO

Finally, a positive news story about nesting #Swifts, and it’s from #Shrewsbury, courtesy of the legends at Action for Swifts over on Facebook 🙂 I believe this refers to the development off Meole Brace roundabout that will include a Starbucks, a tanning salon and a care home. #ShropshireBirds

A trip to Caernarfon to see Britain's 1st record of a Western Reef Heron (Egretta gularis), The weather was absolutely atrocious with torrential rain the whole time we were there, but the bird showed extremely well. #UKbirding #RarebirdsUK
A singing Quail was a bit of a surprise on the Long Mynd today, singing from moorland. Good to see Whinchats up there, and nearby Redstarts and Pied Flycatchers #ShropshireBirding @btoshropshire.bsky.social
