I'm grateful to @emleake.bsky.social , @erezmanela.bsky.social , and the ‘Decolonisation’s Discontents’ workshop participants – this article grew out of those conversations and will be part of the resulting special issue.
London friends: please come along to my talk in a couple of weeks. I’ll be talking about some of the ideas from my next project. Would love to see you there (or online)!
New article out, open access, in Itinerario: “West Papuans between transnationalism and internationalism.” I trace how West Papuan activists used regional organisations and the UN to push for self‑determination, linking their campaigns to debates about race, sovereignty, and representation.
Incredible article on the problems of citizenship in the aftermath of empire and refugees’ use of air travel to carve out a space for themselves between exclusionary and conflicting immigration regimes.
Looking forward to presenting at Birkbeck tomorrow!
My AHR review of @lydiawalker.bsky.social's States-In-Waiting is now live! I reflect on the book's methodological and theoretical contributions to global histories of decolonisation.
