I never took the time to look at numerical approximations to the incomplete gamma/beta function and their accuracy (which I suppose is all quite tricky). Numerical integration always seems a good brute-force choice if speed isn't crucial, because it's easy to control accuracy.
Yep that's different. I won't need multiple precision math, just a good numeric integral. And I haven't found any approximations for finite integrals yet. Good luck with you formula!

Want to work on a native numerical integration together? Been wanting to do this for years.
In the interesting range, the integrand is always monotonic, so numerical integration is (or should be) straightforward. I have to admit that in zipfR I need finite gamma integrals, which I currently compute as diff of incomplete gamma function for end points … exactly, catastrophic cancellation.
This corroborates my worries: AI coding agents are glorified as fully autonomous programmers, probably with superhuman skills, but in the real world they just mess up good code.

Has anyone tried asking ChatGPT about Artemis 2? As I keep saying, the singularity of human civilisation is close if we don't stop buying into all the AI hype. (The real problem is not the lack of up-to-date information but that it's virtually impossible to talk GPT out of its false beliefs.)
