@durotrigesdig.bsky.social Tips for drying finds in wet weather...
If I may offer a small taster example from the North York Moors where the historic (and very prehistoric) fragile environment is taken into account. Our Mesolithic #archaeology is unique in many ways. timevista.co.uk/about/resear...
This an increasing and common story, dilemma. I'm only still in my home because I could pay off the mortgage with equity release (so a hidden hugely expensive 'lifetime' mortgage) and all my savings run out in 7rs at state pension age. It *is* terrifying. There is ZERO support. #LongCOVID
Or a ladder to heaven, North York Moors, Durham Uni, 1985
I just KNOW this series is going to be so much fun. Meg @megsdigs.bsky.social,
Rosanna and I are totally on the same wavelength.
And it’s a VIBE
There's something strangely comforting in washer-drier (UK) spin cycles at 3am. Loud. 1) machine still works. 2) laundering after yesterday's #LongCovid crash carnage (shat myself & vomiting). 3) End state of calm, clean, 6yrs+6wks Covid19 Post-viral is still killing me. Shower next. Terror. 😱
AI? Best denial. Passion. Being human. AI cannot have an original idea. This makes me emotional.

Since Blair and Mandy architected Starmer and the right-wing Labour we experience today, (and demonstrating their ineptitude in government) reacting against Corbyn et al, I find this and the timing bizarre. Nor is he ageing well in his immense wealth. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Historian Simon Schama on US defense secretary Pete Hegseth’s D-Day remarks.
Schama described the remarks as a “special kind of loathsomeness: a blend of historical deafness, grotesque stupidity and comically ludicrous self-importance.”
The ex-Labour PM says Sir Keir Starmer's government is in the "wrong position" ahead of the next election.
The youth of today are spoiled with their SFM and photogrammetry software that effortlessly produces orthophotos.
Back when I were I lad we had to do shit like this all the time. Anything to get an elevated perspective: Precariously balanced stepladders; hanging out of digger buckets. >>>
Now it's official, I can tell you my totally thrilling news!
I will be presenting Digging for Britain, along with my co-presenters Meg Russell and Rosanna Price.
Dream team, and a dream come true!
Happy Friday everyone!

Several #WorldPeatlandsDay posts today referencing their critical importance for carbon and biodiversity, but let's not forget the heritage significance of peatlands, pristine and degraded, and the need to consider this from the outset in any restoration work: historicengland.org.uk/images-books...

As far as archaeological photography techniques are concerned, this is... erm... "different". 😬😂

Peatlands are powerful. Here are just a few reasons why…
1. Peatland vegetation slows the flow of rainfall which helps reduce the risk of flooding in nearby towns and villages. Peatlands only cover around 3% of the world's surface but contains more carbon than all the world's rainforests.
