Congratulations to our colleague @epronizius.bsky.social and our PI @clauslamm.bsky.social for being short-listed for the teaching award of our faculty 🏅
And obviously to the other recipients as well. Happy to have so many great lecturers among us 🤓
I’m truly grateful to be ranked among the Top 3 for the Faculty Teaching Award in “Motivation Promotion – Beyond the Classroom” for my course Proseminar Biological Psychology & Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience at the @univie.ac.at / @scanunit.bsky.social.
I am especially thankful to all current & former students, who have not only learned from me but have also expanded the boundaries of my knowledge through their curiosity and engagement. Your enthusiasm and motivation to learn continue to inspire me. Stay curious and keep learning 💙
Laboratory tasks lack ecological validity: passive & non-interactive, failing to capture real-world reciprocity --> shift toward second-person paradigms, VR, & mobile-based measures. Computational modeling can help open the “black box” by testing which mechanisms best explain tasks behavior.
Social cognition field is hampered by conceptual fragmentation and methodological shortcomings, which slow progress and translational impact.
Core theoretical problems: a) the absence of shared definitions or consensus on the boundaries of SC, b) overlapping labels (the “jingle-jangle” fallacy).

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank Jennifer Ebner-Daigle for guiding me through my first steps in teaching. I am also deeply grateful to IES Abroad Vienna, which provided me with a platform to grow as a teacher and supported the transition of the course into a new setting.
The way forward involves consensus-building efforts, adversarial collaborations, & Big Team Science approaches, along with open science practices guided by intellectual humility & epistemic courage.
