Welcome to full-time Summer Institute trainees, who start today! Part-time trainees start thinking about subject this week and one of the first things we'll be asking them is why they have decided to become a maths teacher. Maths teachers, what was your 'why' when you started teaching? #MathsToday
Our Y1s will be handing in their PGCE assignment tomorrow. They've been doing some practitioner research looking at a particular misconception and how to address it. Massive well-done to them on all their hard work! ๐ What interesting misconceptions have you seen recently? #MathsToday

We're excited to kick off our Summer Institute this week, where next year's trainees will be getting September-ready. We'll be meeting our part-time cohort tomorrow for a deep dive into building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers ๐
Maths teachers ๐ We'll be chatting to our incoming trainees next week about using Bluesky for professional growth. We'd love to know... Why are you here? What do you get out of it? And any tips for how to get value from it? #MathsToday
Y2s engaged superbly with their final online seminar last week. They looked at the problem with problem-solving with David Thomas from @axiommaths.bsky.social, were introduced to @meimaths.bsky.social by Sharon Tripconey & Carol Knights, and reflected on the culture of their mathematics classrooms ๐
In an assessment lots of pupils drew this is as the line y=x for this reflection, drawing a line diagonally from bottom left to top right. This normally works if you have 'square' axes but not in this case!
Happy half-term ๐ It's been a busy one for our trainees with assignment hand-ins and final QTS observations. Many of our ECTs are experiencing exam-season for the first time as Y11 teachers, as well as wrapping up their ambassador projects. We hope everyone gets a rest next week and enjoys some sun๐
We're hiring! ๐ We're looking for a subject specialist to join our wonderful team of mathematics development leads. You'd be supporting trainees and ECTs on our programmes to develop their subject and pedagogical knowledge #MathsToday www.teachfirst.org.uk/working-teac...
