This tragedy was entirely preventable. His death is the result of CBP's gross negligence and a complete failure to treat a vulnerable human being with basic dignity and care. We join calls for a full investigation into every circumstance surrounding his death.
Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a nearly blind refugee who spoke little English, was dropped off alone at a coffee shop by U.S. Border Patrol agents–miles from his home, with no way to contact his family, and without his family ever being notified of his whereabouts. Five days later, he was found dead.
