Finding a photo to go along with tonight’s Bluesky entertainment was challenging but here’s a turtle with attitude on some scaffolding (look, it’s the best I could do 😅) #herps 🌿
she seems to be thriving in the new place and loving to climb into everyones' hands, good night lil queeny
Came across a rock next to a stream where a swallowtail butterfly met its end today. I am guessing it fed a bird.
One of my little prairie lizard friends, some live in my shed, this one was right where I'd walk so I'm pleased I was watching out for them. I like to think they know me, I talk quietly to them as I take their photos. ❤️🦎❤️

Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum) flowers are gone, but the fruits are starting to enlarge. But don't eat it! The entire plant, including young fruit, are toxic. I have read that when the fruit is yellow and ripe it is edible, but I have not tried it.

A Dekay's Snake (Storeria dekayi) that I saw a few days ago. Always a treat to find, these little snakes are common in many parts of eastern North America. They do well in a variety of habitats, including urban and suburban areas. Eats a lot of invertebrates, including snails and slugs.
Surprised and happy to see the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Corpse Flower was blooming this weekend! It has been many years since I have seen one in bloom.
