Excited to share the induction of Dr. Ian Harris into the UCSF Gold-Headed Cane Society, Class of 2026. Est. in 1939, the society recognizes individuals who exemplify the qualities of a true physician - clinical excellence, integrity, commitment to patients and trainees alike.
Drs. Huie Lin & David Wang enrolled a patient in the COMPASSION 3 study, evaluating the Edwards Lifesciences SAPIEN 3 for patients with failing surgical or transcatheter bioprosthetic aortic valve. The first enrollment in 9 yrs and the 1st interventional cardiology device trial at Mission Bay.

A fantastic day at @ucsfhealth.bsky.social PlaySafe event, a 24-year Bay Area tradition centered on injury prevention and cardiac safety. Cardiology team members including Drs. Karyn Austin, Satoshi Yoshimura, Zian Tseng and Clifton Watt, helped lead cardiac evaluations for 388 student-athletes.
Drs. Sammy Elmariah, Michela Faggioni, Neal Shah and Allison Kratka successfully performed Northern California’s first heterotopic transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement procedure for symptomatic severe tricuspid regurgitation using the bicaval TricValve device within the TRICAV I Study.
Drs. Michela Faggioni, Pooja Prasad, Huie Lin, and David Wang performed a successful procedure for the EMPOWER Trial. The study is evaluating the Carillon Mitral Contour System for treating functional mitral regurgitation in heart failure. @ucsfhealth.bsky.social

Congrats to our @ucsfcardiology.bsky.social team on another successful procedure for the EMPOWER Trial at UCSF! The multi-center clinical trial is evaluating the safety & effectiveness of a new device that treats functional mitral regurgitation (heart valve disease) in patients with heart failure.
