in those spaces. Like the story below included most of my coworkers too. Everyone should be paid more. We shouldn't need non-profits for most social services, funding those things should be a given. But even people who work for the glamorous philanthropies (like I once did), deserve a living wage /3
I’m against the death penalty always. Even for the worst people. You make them look weaker and less “legendary” when they’re forced to toil away forever. But nothing should ever be codified based on race or ethnicity. It is so beyond fucked up that a country we send tax $ to can get away with that
Different rules for people based on race or ethnicity is Apartheid. That is literally the definition Killing people based on race or ethnicity is genocide Neither of those are up for debate, and this is codified in Israeli law even more now Shameful that so many STILL can’t call this what it is
People don't often like to talk about this, but this is why the leadership of so many non-profits, not even just the Board members, seem so aloof and out of touch. They're working there because they CAN, not because they need to eat. It's why even as a white dude, I always felt like an alien 2/
Neil Young not only wrote better music, but he’s also always been less of a selfish hack. Lest we finally decide to re-litigate who our iconic folk singers of yore are…
When I worked for private non-profits, I was almost always the only guy there. There is nothing wrong with that. But, it is a product of the fact that non-profits pay like SHIT(I still made $42,000 in NYC...in 2021), and that all my coworkers had husbands or parents who made much more 1/

Um… absolutely not gonna help at all on this one @workingfamilies.org… Susan Collins is horrendous and needs to go. But, Platner has so many red flags that I’d really appreciate it if pols and orgs I respected just sat this primary out, or helped someone like @andrealaflamme.bsky.social earlier.
"Power does not get shared. It gets built or it gets taken." This is a great write up on the few upsetting compromises @mayor.nyc.gov has made so far with the Democratic machine. People have proven they're in the fight for the long haul, there's no reason to not keep fighting.

We have a lot to learn from both candidate and president Obama. A new generation of candidates is learning the wrong lessons.

I tell this story a lot, but when I was working at a really fancy NYC philanthropy in 2020, the entire board of directors and guests at a cocktail event were CONVINCED that Michael Bloomberg was going to sweep the primary that year 1/
