Been looking for alternatives to this in my own game for a while now. Unsure if ppl will dig it as much as I do, but it's been an interesting experiment so far!
With most boss fights taking place in a round open arena and roll direction being trivial in determining whether or not you survived an attack, then we might as well be fighting on a 1d axis surrounded by pretty but meaningless environments.
Fully agree with Melos here!
Imo action games (specially souls) have been leaning way too much into quick reaction timing to animation tells and it's all becoming a bit dull to me.
