I’ll be 0% shocked if they get there by the end of the month Trump et al. obviously want *out* of the Iran situation at any cost, but the cost is clearly hurting them. If they keep paying, and then Israel keeps dragging them back in, I think they’ll get to a point where they’ll cut Israel loose

Ideological vs non-ideological voter split. All the parties claim they’ll make things better. Voters don’t particularly care about the underlying ideology of how that happens, and will keep replacing governments until one actually improves the QoL

Ha! I don’t think anyone would be happy with where that chain of logic leads. The government desperately wants to be able to insist that they’re being forced to hold the referendum.

I disagree. I think they’d be happy if they could get away with that, and they’ve tried, but Iran has shown they’re not going to treat the USA and Israel as independent actors. Israel will not stop bombing. Iran will not open the strait unless they do. The USA needs it open Something has to give

I think that might overlook how much he’s cooking his brain following specific voices. For example, I bet he’s been actively following Yaxley-Lennon/Robinson for years, along with all the UK based TERFs.

In some ways, it’s actually consistent logic. They perceived things as getting worse, and so voted against the current government (for Labour). They still perceive things as getting worse, and so they’re voting against the current government (against Labour)

LAB winning an absolute majority of votes is more life than I expected to see out of them. Gives me hope that the public hasn’t closed the door on them, and that a change in leadership *accompanied by a change in policies* could still turn around support.

Same as it ever was. Never been a time in history that people have voted for the benefits of faceless “others” Biggest modern example is LGBTQ rights. As soon as acceptance reached the point that everyone knew a gay person, suddenly you had the fastest legal reforms of any civil rights movement
