Once again, the community and volunteer sector have been left to pick up the pieces, a sector that is already over stretched and deliberately underfunded. Meanwhile, well funded gangs who claim to represent community and the interest of "ordinary people" are tearing the city apart.
Are the UDA and UVF involved? Absolutely. But when loyalists organised sectarian pogroms in the past they didn't put out statements saying 'any Catholics interested in helping please come along.' There is a new dimension here, both local and global, and there are nationalists being drawn into it
