Guns make suicide almost exclusively fatal. The fatality rate for self-harm with guns is near 100%. Guns turn an impulse into an unrecoverable.

1) Every year, 60% of gun deaths in the US are deaths by suicide.
2) Evidence CONSISTENTLY shows: Ready access to a gun *greatly* increases suicide risk.
3) ~18 veterans die by suicide every day; ~13 of them use a firearm.

Extensive studies of suicide have shown that immediate access to a method increases suicides, which are often impulsive decisions. Men also die in suicide attempts at much higher rates than women, because they use guns.

Your numbers refer only to suicides using guns. Owning a gun increases your *overall* risk for suicide by 3x if you're a man and 7x if you're a woman.
The study also found that men who do not own guns have higher suicide rates using methods other than guns.
