The BBC need to lean into this. When the current series of any show ends, the main character should suddenly turn into Billie Piper. When the next one starts, Billie is nowhere to be seen. Normalise this now and in a few years it won't be an issue for Doctor Who.
I always fancied doing a Vigilante Superhero story where it turns out the Batman-a-like hero's alter ego is a whole cabal of billionaires who don the mask to beat on the poors.
