Congratulations to historian Richard Kagan, neuroscientist Ulrich Mueller, political scientist Vesla Weaver, and biophysicist Sarah Woodson on being elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. hub.jhu.edu/2026/04/30/a...
Our new paper is out! Using 19F NMR, we show that Hfq rewires the conformational dynamics of a model sRNA in a site-specific manner. Uridines at the rim undergo faster exchange (~100 μs) than those in the proximal pore (~300 μs). Congrats Elise! 🎉🎉 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
🎉 We’re excited to officially kick off the ERC Synergy project, snoOPERA, with Anthony Henras, Brigitte Pertschy, and Roland Beckmann! 🎉 Bringing together labs across 3 European countries and the US, we aim to uncover hidden functions of snoRNPs in ribosome assembly. Go team! tinyurl.com/2e5r57b5

Congratulations to Elise White @elisew00.bsky.social on winning a poster prize at the Regulating with RNA in Bacteria and Archaea meeting in Strasbourg! 🎉🎉
Congratulations to Wilson on your NAR #Breakthrough paper!
We had a great time at the #StandUpForScience rally in DC!
Our new paper is out in PNAS! We show that competition for binding to the Hfq matchmaker disfavors mismatched sRNA-mRNA combinations while allowing matched sRNA-mRNAs to form stable pairs. Kudos to Jorjethe Roca and Yi-Lan Chen for their fantastic work on this problem! doi.org/10.1073/pnas...
🚨New paper alert! Using single molecule TIRF microscopy, we show that Nop1 destabilizes RNA structure via transient, nonspecific interactions — until specific assembly of native ribosomal complexes takes over. Congrats, Wilson! 🎉 academic.oup.com/nar/article/...
