One of my most controversial takes is that being objectified for domestic, emotional and reproductive labour is far more common, damaging and insidious within our society than being objectified sexually. Because being used as a maid within a marriage is often perceived as respectful and healthy.
A lot of people struggle to understand that sexuality has never objectifying, humiliating or subservient in and on itself, but rather it’s how patriarchy has framed it in order to treat cis women and children as property and to better exploit reproductive labour.
Puritanical attitudes aid to this.
