It’s that time of year again.
L: Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) R: The Secret of Monkey Island (1990)
It's hard to express how much is going on here and what a big deal it is. We've been building toward this for over 8 years now, and we genuinely built a video game history research tool that is usable by anyone. We're democratizing game research through a free, no-bullshit, human-curated resource.
Le Chimp is finito! More details and process stuff are here: www.artstation.com/artwork/Gv2W5z #3dart #characterart #3Dcharacter #monkeyisland #gameart #fanart #stylizedart

You don’t want to know.
I mean, hate is a strong word. He could have disliked the grainy compression artefacts therefore used a style that evaded it somewhat for the next game or two until scanning tech improved, but still ultimately liked and been proud of his work.
Out of interest, where did Chan claim to hate it? I would have assumed it was the game’s art direction that influenced the change more than him disliking his own work, given he returned to the richer and more textured style in the future, including for Grim Fandango.
