Between trips, I made a brief stop back in Halifax. I went to a CUPE picket line to support workers who have been on strike since mid-April. Some of the longest strikes in recent Canadian history have been in long-term care and these workers deserve better.
Reading stuff on occupational health and safety, and the role of industry-sponsored university research. This cartoon, from 1976, with the infamous German phrase that "Work sets you free", captures a critical perspective on these relationships. Something to think about 50 yrs later.
Here’s your sport thought for today: the media will whip up the Stanley Cup drought today and how a Canadian team hasn’t won since 1993 (33 yrs). But they won’t tell you that it has only been 31 years since an American team won the Grey Cup.
