Or… is it called a ‘reflecting pool’ because visitors are meant to gaze into it and reflect upon the lives and sacrifices of the men and women memorialized up and down this portion of the National Mall?

Why is it called the “Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool”? It seems to me it was build long and skinny to reflect the Washington Monument.

Coincidentally, it demonstrates once again the administration’s failure to enlist/hire people with the necessary expertise to plan and execute a project.
Expertise and understanding save money and lives, while incompetence and corruption beget catastrophe.
