The #medicane (called Storm #Jolina by DWD or Storm #Samuel by Meteo-France) has made landfall in northeastern #Libya, and it looked pretty close to being fully tropical as it did so, with a rather solid ring of convection surrounding an eye feature.

So was there an earthquake or not? WRIC says yes but there is nothing on the USGS site. #RVA
#Narelle (#27P, #34U) is undergoing an ERC as it approaches the Cape York Peninsula, but it remains a Cat 5 (Aus) cyclone with winds of 120 kts gusting to 170 kts. Although Narelle will weaken slightly before landfall, it will remain an extremely dangerous TC at that point.
#Narelle ( #27P ) is currently bearing down on the western Pilbara and the NW Cape peninsula as a Category 4 severe TC. Some additional strengthening is possible before it moves inland near Cape Cuvier in WA on Fri PM. Perth area could see wind impacts similar to Seroja in 2021.
Cyclone #Narelle (#27P, #34U) is currently making landfall on the Cape York Peninsula. It has weakened slightly but remains an intense Category 4 (Australian) tropical cyclone. The eye will likely pass north of Coen during the next few hours.
A polar low spun up in the Gulf of Alaska yesterday and briefly resembled a tropical cyclone with modestly deep convection and an eye feature. The low quickly dissipated after it moved inland. These lows form every now and then in the far northern Pacific and the Sea of Japan.

#Narelle ( #27P, #34U) has crossed the Cape York Peninsula and is now over the Gulf of Carpentaria. It has weakened substantially and is now a Cat 2 (Australia) system with 55 kt winds. Narelle is forecast to move across the Gulf and regain some strength before reaching the Top End early on Sunday.
#Narelle ( #27P , #34U ) continues to intensify over the Coral Sea. Significant impacts are expected over the northern Cape York Peninsula in #Qld beginning Fri. Although Narelle will likely weaken over land, some reintensification is likely once it enters the Gulf of Carpentaria on Sat.
#Narelle ( #27P ) has reattained severe TC status as it quickly reintensifies off the Pilbara. It's forecast to peak at 105 kts before making landfall at Cape Cuvier. It should undergo extratropical transition after landfall, but a big portion of WA could see hazardous conditions.

Despite being well inland, the #medicane ( #Jolina or #Samuel) remains a fairly well defined system and is still producing some shallow convection as it races for the Libya-Egypt border. It should decay into a trough shortly after getting there.
