"Iβve been walking to Giants games and music concerts most of my life from my parentβs house on a sleepy road in Rutherford, just west of the 80,000-seat, giant air conditioner-looking-arena wedged in a swamp. A few road blocks were not going to stop me from trying." www.nj.com/sports-news/...
A local walks from his Rutherford home to MetLife Stadium for the World Cup opener, meeting fans and navigating security and transit chaos.
Was just talking to a friend who was in NYC last night when the Knicks won, and it seems that a whole lot of cars got jumped on...big night in the War On Cars!
I'm hearing that the trains were not even full, you could relax, stretch out your legs...
It's probably notable that it's Macurdy who is writing this editorial. The district he represents includes many Raritan Valley line towns. Service on the Raritan Valley line is poor. Most trains do not even run all the way to NY Penn Station because of a lack of tunnel and platform capacity.
It would be nice to see Josh Gottheimer write a few editorials about what New Jersey residents need out of NY Penn Station improvements, instead of doing 1,000 press conferences about congestion pricing.
I think Macurdy is right. Capacity increases do not seem to be a priority under this plan, and the potential from the ongoing investment in the Gateway Rail Tunnels risks being wasted. Improved rail connections between NYC and NJ absolutely require more track capacity.
