Exciting news… the first greater horseshoe bat pup of the season was born at the start of June at our bat reserve in Sussex — and will be flying by July. Although births are getting earlier as the climate changes, it's brilliant to see this small edge-of-range colony thriving in our southeast roost.
While we value all wildlife, because we are helping to put pine martens back in circulation, we would also love to see them on our new bank notes! Join us in voting and Help us celebrate the UK’s wildlife | Bank of England www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/he...
This #VolunteersWeek we celebrate our volunteers helping the research and conservation of threatened mammals. From survey and monitoring to submitting sightings as citizen scientists, volunteers play a vital part. Together, we can make a difference. Huge thanks for your time, skills and expertise.
#VolunteersWeek Andy Selman, one of our Bat Reserve Roost Coordinators, shares why volunteering with greater horseshoe bats matters so much to him and how volunteers play an integral part in the conservation of these rare bats. Thank you, Andy, and all our volunteers, for your time and support.

#VolunteersWeek Dany shares why volunteering on surveys for Barbastelle and Bechstein’s bats is important to her. Thank you, Dany, for sharing why this work matters and for helping to make a difference to the conservation of these remarkable bats. Photos: ©Carys Potto and Jim Mullholland.
#VolunteersWeek Following a move to Wales, Paul Westwood set up a trail camera to watch wildlife, including pine martens. This led to volunteering for VWT where Paul values being with, “So many helpful and knowledgeable people, all working together for a common good.” Thank you for your time, Paul.
Turn up the volume to hear the exciting sounds of pine marten kits calling as their mother returns from hunting. This is the first audio evidence of breeding we’ve had from our den boxes in #TweedValley. Visit www.pinemartens.uk for more info. #TheNationalLotteryHeritageFund

#VolunteersWeek Thank you to all citizen scientists for the 2,300+ records to our Polecat Survey — and increasing our knowledge of a hard-to-survey species. You can still report sightings to @mammalsociety.bsky.social Mammal Mapper App. You can still report pine marten sightings here arcg.is/L1fG0
