I suppose in 100 more episodes we’ll be in 1928? And 2028 in real time? Whew. Let’s see if we’ve got a country by then. Thanks for listening!
We’re a decade and a half of seasons into it and I already feel reassured that some have said it could be a good teaching tool. It’s still a small show but happy to see how it’s steadily growing, both in listen numbers and qualitative engagement with ballot submissions etc.
Madonna E4 of The Complete Catalog is live! @honorszombie.bsky.social and I talk WHO'S THAT GIRL, a kind of strange "Madonna album" that almost didn't make it into the run of episodes. We address why, the movie for which it's the soundtrack, and the disappointment of the project(s)!
Oops, used the wrong name for my own podcast 🤦♂️ the problem with having two of ‘em I guess
Reflecting on 100 episodes of The 5 Best Films of Every Year Ever and not gonna lie, sometimes I get delusions of grandeur about how it could end up being a great epic survey of film history through personal lenses.
1913 E2 of The 5 Best Films of Every Year Ever is live! And it's the 100th episode! An already special episode is made more so by my conversation with @shelleystamp.bsky.social, who paints a picture of developing American film grammar with films with women in front of and behind the camera. Links👇
Here is an excerpt from my conversation with @shelleystamp.bsky.social about WHAT 80 MILLION WOMEN WANT for The Complete Catalog: 1913. Links in quoted post!
