According to a legend, my mom's uncle, Pavle Inglič - Bar, who fought with the Slovene partisans during the Second World War, had around a hundred notches on his rifle. In early 1945 he became a notch on someone else's rifle he was himself.

A Montenegrin artillery position, 1914. Despite the Montenegrin army being small, underfunded, and woefully underequipped, the small Balkan kingdom and its soldiers fought hard and well against the all odds.
Early air combat! - The only armament on this Austro-Hungarian Aviatik B.II of Flik 3 on the Eastern Front is a Mannlicher 1895 carbine, strapped to the fuselage, for the observer to grab and fend off any enemy planes.

53 year old Kaiserschütze Walter - an Austro-Hungarian sniper reported by one source to have killed around 100 Italian soldiers with his scoped Mannlicher M.1895 rifle. Likely propaganda, but who knows?
