Graham Platner is an inexperienced dilettante with a Nazi tattoo who abused his ex-girlfriends. Abdul El-Sayed is an Arab Muslim doctor who directed the Health Department of the most populous county in Michigan. If you think the latter is worse than the former, you might be racist and Islamophobic.

He's a bad candidate, but also part of a leftist/DSA vanguard trying to hijack the party. There's another bad DSA Senate candidate in el-Sayed, who is potentially an even bigger disaster. Primary is in August. Best thing centrists can do is back sane Dem alternatives like Stevens in Michigan.
Look, if Platner wins in November - and I doubt he will - you'll get one more vote against Trump in the Senate, and that's good. But it will come at a price.
The worst of all worlds? You all mortgage the high ground, and then he loses anyway - which I think is the most likely outcome.
