The UK is unlikely to adopt an instrument similar to the EU’s Anti-Coercion Instrument, since it lacks the political and economic will.Instead, London should focus on adapting and expanding the UK’s existing defensive powers - including sanctions, investment screening and export controls – and deploy them more strategically in the future to counter economic threats.
