Female professors at post-secondary schools in Toronto earn significantly less than their male counterparts. In Ontario, every major university paid male professors more than female professors, with average wage gaps ranging from 5.7% (University of Ottawa) to 13.5% (McMaster University)
‘Nature Canada, one of the country’s oldest conservations groups, said it was calling on supporters to urgently contact lawmakers to vote against any fast-tracked legislation, warning it could lead to zones of “environmental lawlessness”.’ www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...

Possibly one of the most important things I’ve learned as a PI over the last 12 years is that when you have a limited amount of money and you have to choose between Technology and People. You should choose people every time.
After a year away I’m so glad to be back in my community studio. This has been such a mainstay over my last ~7 years here in Montreal, and is one of many reasons I love my city and neighbourhood
Can’t say I recall ever seeing this before. More than half of France’s 30+ year-old weather stations set/tied their monthly high-temperature record in May 2026. Some did so as many as 9 times. Unprecedented to witness this level of heat so early in the year.
"'He yells,' said one MP (...). 'He punches down at caucus all the time.'" This is pretty unsurprising based on various reports on some of Carney's behind-the-scenes behaviour since day one, but it's still really off-putting to read. Great reporting from @althiaraj.bsky.social. She's killing it.

Last month, I found myself sitting in a room of ~100 (primarily) architects and planners at our annual partnership convention. I thought *what would Aerin do with this opportunity*, and grabbed the mic! Here’s the slightly more thought out version, adapted from the @csee-scee.bsky.social statement
Really appreciated the chance to join this global discussion of inclusion in NbS alongside so many thoughtful colleagues.
Montreal and (almost) everywhere else in the country 😬

Imagine how many faculty they could’ve hired. The administrators who argued for this have consistently argued against paying their faculty a living wage.
