Anatomy sets things up, but it’s not the whole story. A low-D communication subspace from PFC to motor cortex reconfigures with context, routing action signals so the same movements can be driven by different rules without rewiring the whole network.

We think this finding is really exciting as it opens up new avenues to study neural communication in human (intracranial) EEG beyond pairwise connectivity metrics such as coherence.

How humans process competing information when making multi-alternative decisions remains unclear. Here, the authors show that the brain resolves the trade-off between “evaluating within” and “comparin...

Very excited to share our latest paper led by @nbinish.bsky.social in @natneuro.nature.com
We demonstrate how a communication subspace channels higher-dimensional PFC dynamics into lower-D motor activity to enable efficient behavior using human iEEG.

Does aperiodic activity index neural excitability?
Single-unit and LFP recordings during optogenetic interneuron suppression show that aperiodic activity scales with firing, but it depends on context and oscillatory power. New preprint with @juliaveit.bsky.social.

And a postdoc opportunity (T32 program) in anesthesiology @yaleschoolofmed.bsky.social
with ample opportunities for interactions and collaborations.
