The USGS Water Science School page lists "Growth of Aquatic Plants" under "Common Environmental Problems" of lakes. Hmph. I bet they don't list "Growth of Trees" as a common environmental problem of forests. Can we please appreciate aquatic plants? www.usgs.gov/water-scienc... #MacrophyteMonday

A lake really is just another component of Earth's surface water. A lake is where surface-water runoff and groundwater seepage have accumulated in a low spot, relative to the surrounding countryside.
