The inevitable behind the scenes exposé of the RTD2 era is going to be fascinating, because so much of what is on screen is very clearly an output of production issues.
This did happen the first time around, of course. Eccleston also left because of what a nightmare the first series was but you can put some of that down to it being a proper risk with being a true reboot. It’s also just a lot more challenging to do anything like this in the social media era.
I’d love a long-read in a few years about what an absolute shitshow the second RTD era has been. I don’t think it’s any one person’s specific fault but it just seems to have been a calamity in every single way.
