If you do want a giant outdoor body of water to be crystal clear, and frankly dead, then you would have to spend money continuously and vigorously filtering it, and treating it with salt pool tech or chlorine and balancing.

It's often unavoidable because in hospital people don't mask, visitors and staff. My uncle died from covid I believe last year. He had an operation which was successful but caught covid. Was discharged. Developed pneumonia and died.
