Actually it’s just ok. Too much murder not enough fishing. I read the first one. :)

Just finishing Álvaro Enrigue’s Now I Surrender. Huge fan of his previous work, but this book is an utterly astounding achievement. Can’t imagine reading anything better this year.
I just finished Menewood, Nicola Griffith’s 7th-century-British historical novel. Whew! Now “The Ornament of the World” about medieval Spain. I’m not much of a history reader but Menewood really got me and I had Ornament on the shelf. Excited!
I just finished three very different books:
Lincoln’s Peace, by Michael Vorenberg @mikevorenberg.bsky.social
Upward Bound, by Woody Brown
What We Can Know, by Ian McEwan
and I’m 3/4ths of the way through Ada Palmer‘s Inventing the Renaissance (@adapalmer.bsky.social)
All great reads!
The response to this latest TEETH BEACH chapter has been ... amazing. I've never written anything about my own experience of gender before; every time I tried, I imagined how much I'd be sneered at. Even talking about it in mixed company tended to go badly. flaminghydra.com/teeth-beach-...
