#FathersDay But many young Scots are not becoming parents now – or ever. In final part of Scotland's Demographic Crunch @benwray1989.bsky.social confronts Scotland's fertility gap, its complex causes (financial, social, digital disruption) and how solutions could improve life for all of us.

One to share with the menfolk (fathers and sons) in my family on Sunday. Thanks @adambehrlive.bsky.social
A vitally important 3 part series @benwray1989.bsky.social confronts issues that rarely see the light of day in political/policy debate. What is Scotland's future if too few young are able to become parents? How does society pay for an increasingly old population? Where is quality of life?
"Burnham’s return raises a broader question: could England’s metro mayors become an alternative route to national leadership?" A competitive advantage in gaining real life experience... Perhaps why Scot Gov has always resisted the idea of Scottish mayors?
Free press? Holyrood restricts media access to politicians after FMQs Nothing to see here
There's a month's reading in commentaries and consequences of Makerfield result. Sam Freedman is usually one of the best but there are lots of other enlightening views. I don't think we have a month to spare before real life races ahead.
Good start to cold wet morning (in midsummer Scotland) “people understand how the UK’s electoral system works and they know how to get what they want, or, at least, how to prevent what they don’t want. They don’t want a Farageist MP, in the main:” @stephenkb.bsky.social Rage on Nigel Farage?
What are the costs and challenges of providing for an ageing population? @benwray1989.bsky.social offers answers in Part2 #ScotlandsDemographicCrunch An essential read for all politicians, policy makers – and grandparents. Cabinet sec health & care is now @angelaconstance.bsky.social
UK is sadly depleted. From hedgehogs and bats to butterflies and newts, our wildlife is disappearing fast – and our governments are letting it happen. I’ve just signed @friends-earth.bsky.social’s petition calling for urgent action. Add your name: action.friendsoftheearth.uk/petition/tel...

Tell the government: act for nature before it’s too late
Add my name Did you know the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world? There’s less wildlife today than in living memory − and it’s still disappearing before our eyes. From hedgeho...
