Skydance is a terrible company.
I feel bad for at everyone at PSKY and Iβm not talking about the Ellisons, Iβm talking about the network and studios executives across their divisions, Paramount Pictures, CBS, Showtime, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET and more to be humiliating with all that nonsense from the Ellisons.
If Netflix had released "The Burroughs" weekly like "Widow's Bay" would it have gotten a season 2? We'll never know. But not doing anything to promote it is a big problem. Why spend millions of dollars and years of work on an original story receiving good reviews only to dump it with no fanfare?
The reason for this is because China has been a diminishing source of revenue for Hollywood, βas βits domestic β movie industry matures.
Thatβs the big problem, they canβt! Skydance needs that Netflix money in order to keep up their animation studio. Any attempts to connect it with their Paramount brand or make John Lasseter do more than the Skydance stuff would both destroy the deal and lose a big chunk of their finance.
I think thatβs a desperate last minute move of try to get it cleared from the EU, but that doesnβt work that way while the EU is still investigating.
They should have done that prior like last year before pursuing WBD.
How long will this even last?
Do you think when Skydance Animation is done with Netflix in the future they'll put stuff on Paramount+/HBO Max?
I'm glad I'm not watching this film. Or any other film from Skydance Animation.
Agreed. The merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery is doomed to fail with PSKY becoming one more victim of Warner Bros. Curse due to every company failing as result of acquiring WB.
