A random look back at 30 years of metal detecting in Suffolk.
A mix of common finds, and some special.
Enjoy.

The story of the teeth I find is thus.
In this cliff they have lain for millions of years.
The sea erodes them out.
They work their way down the beach, to ultimately meet up with Davy Jones.
It's my job to intercept them before they are lost forever 😁

Perfection in nature 🥰
Just out of curiosity, I'm trying a different location. Slow going, but I'm not sure I expected much more.
These 3 found on a small out crop of London clay.
Medieval silver farthings.
These coins are tiny, no wonder they were readily lost. But still a significant lose. With this you could have bought 1/2lb of cheese, or even 1/2 dozen eggs.
Morning all, have yourselves a lovely Sunday

Wibbly Wobbly Water 😁
And found the very next day, 13th June 2020
A medieval silver Halfgroat (two pence) of Edward III, pre Treaty Series C, AD 1351-1352, mint of London.
Partial double strike on reverse.

Was a good one @sheena-mck.bsky.social, even if I couldn't compete with the masters 😁

Perhaps my favourite penny of Edward III was found this on day, 6 years ago.
Third (Florin) coinage, type 2 dating to AD 1344-1351
Mint if London.
