This is just like authoritarian parenting. Oh did you just tell me no? Well no I’m going to beat your ass and you’re still going to do it anyway? And for every extra half hour you take to do it, you’re going to get ten more spankings! Etc.
I mean using military force to impose your political terms is the exact definition of war. You can't have a ceasefire while also using military force to impose your will on an adversary.
